Toogood is a London-based design studio founded in 2008 by Faye Toogood. The studio designs and manufactures artisanal, sculptural products across furniture, homeware accessories and contemporary clothing, as well as providing bespoke interior design services for commercial and residential projects.

HEAD OF SALES

Toogood creates timeless works of unconventional design, encompassing the disciplines of fashion, furniture, homeware, interiors and fine art. At the heart of the studio is a restless spirit of experimentation where designers, furniture makers, sculptors and interior designers cross-pollinate on each project to produce work that is bold, sculptural and poetic.

With an established wholesale business in furniture and fashion, as well as a growing DTC business, we are looking for a driven and energetic Sales Director to lead our Sales teams across fashion and furniture. The role will predominantly be focused on furniture so the ideal candidate will come from a luxury furniture background and have a desire to work within an ambitious, innovative, and creatively driven business.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Furniture and Objects:

  • Lead the strategy to grow our trade sales to architects, designers and wholesale distributors

  • Responsible for developing and implementing an excellent customer centred sales journey to maintain the service levels expected of a luxury brand

  • Act as a brand ambassador and manage relevant sales & marketing initiatives, including store training and personal appointments

  • Using data and insight, develop the product focused commercial briefs for the design team. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the competitive market and communicate what’s required in a clear and insightful way

  • Responsible for product pricing across each product range, maintaining margins whilst also aligning with the competitive landscape

  • Support the Marketing team in developing the marketing strategy for all wholesale partners

Fashion:

  • Responsible for leading the sales team during Wholesale sales market in Paris; ensuring the showroom experience for clients is on brand and maximising sales

  • Contribute to the wholesale client outreach strategy, researching and identifying new targets and nurturing and growing existing clients across all territories

  • Analyse and interpret product performance, consumer trends, competitive landscape and local market knowledge and share with wider teams

  • Develop strong relationships with the design team, guiding the development of the range plan in each collection based on commercial insight

General:

  • Manage sales team performance and their continued development in the company

  • Responsible for accurate reporting of budgets and forecasts

  • Analyse and identify areas for improvement across the sales process and detect opportunities to create efficiencies where possible

  • Build strong relationships with the product development team across all categories to be the ‘go to’ person when individuals want commercial insight or knowledge

  • Assist and support with ad hoc projects as required

  • Negotiate contracts, profitability agreements, and payment terms

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Strong wholesale background - must have worked in the luxury furniture industry

  • Strong strategic skills with a proven track record of increasing turnover in a luxury business

  • Strong business acumen, strategic planning and negotiation skills

  • Global experience with an excellent knowledge of the market landscape in fashion and furniture

  • Experience of ERP systems and Sales crm systems

  • Excellent excel skills
