THE SCULPTOR & THE TAILOR
TOOGOOD — CUBITTS
Cubitts have developed two limited edition frames in collaboration with Toogood: The Sculptor and The Tailor. Characterful styles that capture two archetypes, inspired by the two Toogood sisters and their prolific creative output.
In trademark Toogood fashion, this collaboration with Cubitts is a celebration and exploration of shape and materials. Part of the design process involved Toogood sharing their diverse materials library with Cubitts, and Cubitts responding by developing custom and limited edition acetates. Just like a piece of Toogood furniture, Shapes for the frames were initially found by modelling in the everyday materials of the studio – tinfoil, clay, tape. These raw, expressive maquettes were then translated by the Cubitts artisans into two refined pairs of sculptural spectacles.
THE SCULPTOR
A fusion of structure and fluidity, The Sculptor is a sculptural statement with a commanding presence. Its structural visor front delivers a distinctive and uninterrupted silhouette, while deep lens chamfering softens the edges, adding depth and refinement to the form. Balancing the architectural front, thick, flared temples introduce a sense of proportion and poise, tapering elegantly for a seamless fit. Finished in a rich molasses colour.
THE TAILOR
The Tailor is an oversized, rounded panto in an oyster colour. An accentuated browline injects a touch of playfulness and character. Meanwhile, flared temples create a beautifully balanced profile. Pronounced lugs and double dot rivet hinges ground the frame with a sense of precision, reinforcing its refined yet expressive design.
