Palette Console Table / Oak

Sale price£9,500.00

The Palette Console Table is formed from intersecting, curving shapes, with an organic top contour inspired by an artist’s paint palette. Soft, non-geometric forms and generous rounding define the piece, while interlocking elements are resolved through careful joinery without visible fixings.

Offered in both Limed Oak and Scorched Oak, each piece is made from sustainably sourced British oak and sealed with wax to create a subtle surface sheen.

In the Limed Oak finish, a natural chemical reaction is used to gently darken the tone of the wood, a traditional process historically employed to protect timber furniture.

In Scorched Oak, the surface is blackened using a controlled flame that carbonises and seals the wood, exposing and accentuating the natural grain. In both finishes, the process responds to the grain and sap content of the oak, resulting in tonal variation and surface character unique to each piece.

THE PALETTE PROCESS

Palette is a family of solid wood furniture rooted in material honesty, craftsmanship and longevity. Made in England, the collection is produced using sustainable British timbers, valued for their strength, warmth and ability to age gracefully over time.

The designs reflects Faye Toogood’s long-standing relationship with wood, returning to sycamore and oak as primary materials. Forms are defined by soft, non-geometric shapes and generous rounding, with interlocking elements carefully resolved to avoid visible fixings. The organic contours reference an artist’s paint palette, translating a familiar studio object into functional furniture.

Each piece is hand-finished using a traditional process that darkens the wood through a natural chemical reaction. Variations in tone are inherent to the material and contribute to the character of the collection.

“Palette captures the naïve energy and limitless potential of a child’s first set of building blocks.”

- Faye Toogood

TIMELESS CRAFTSMANSHIP

Materials & Process

At the heart of the studio is a restless spirit of experimentation, and a deep seated respect for materials. These two pillars of creativity and craft can be found in each piece, from the ironically plump Roly- Poly in glowing raw fibreglass, to the hardy Cobble collection finished in laboratory- grade ceramic glaze
