Birkenstock x Toogood Launch

We are excited to announce the launch of the Birkenstock x Toogood collection of sandals, clothing and a bed.

This collaboration brings together Toogood's and Birkenstock's core strengths of function and sculptural design to all aspects of daily life - walking, wearing and sleeping.  

The process of designing across footwear and clothing disciplines saw Toogood’s fashion and product designers work closely together, developing shapes from a series of handmade sculptures made in the studio.

SANDALS 

Inspired by ancient artefacts, unearthed for collection and display, Toogood has re-sculpted classic Birkenstock sandals into three new styles; the Forager the Mudlark and the Beachcomber.

The sandals themselves become sculptural objects, their contours and puffy forms realised in a signature palette of materials including canvas, felt, suede and leather.

CLOTHING 

Complementing the sandals is a capsule collection of workwear and accessories for men and women.

A neutral palette of black, white and grey accentuates the focus on cut and texture, while the act of recutting the Birkenstock sandal is highlighted in prints incorporating the pattern shapes in bold, graphic designs.

To accompany the clothing there is a range of accessible, high quality accessories - bags, scarves, legwear and a sumptuous woven beach towel.

BED

Rounding off the collaboration, Birkenstock and Toogood have created a new bed, combining Birkenstock's expertly constructed sleep system and Toogood's distinctive design approach.

Puffy layers of canvas and leather upholstery create a soft form, which sits on a cork base with the signature Birkenstock natural mattress and slatted frame incorporated within. The bed is available upon request from 1774.com.
